CBS 21: Women feel extra pressure as they juggle returning to workforce and finding childcare
August 2. 2022
Deputy Director Delia Coleman is featured in a segment on local CBS station of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, talking about the pandemic’s lasting effects on Black and Latinx moms, backed by statistics from our latest report, Family Voices Amplified.
“Women are feeling that additional pressure,” Equal Rights Advocates Deputy Director Delia Coleman explained. “And it’s causing a real crisis.”
Equal Rights Advocates found 50% of women of color it surveyed are struggling to make ends meet while balancing caregiving responsibilities.
“Black and Latino women are often in industries and occupations that are lower paid,” Coleman explained. “So they disproportionately feel the impacts of the inequities in those industries.”
“All of this combines to create a perfect storm for these working moms,” Coleman continued.
