Let’s vote like our lives depend on It. Because they do.
Thousands across the country have already cast their midterm ballots by mail in what will be a pivotal year for our civil and constitutional rights, bodily autonomy, and economic security. Let’s remember our power and what is at stake: With the overturning of Roe, all our gains are at risk.

Women, students and workers across genders, and families have made it very clear what we need from Washington and state legislatures to help us get back on our feet with a fair shot. But Black and Latinx families have seen little progress toward alleviating unfair, disproportionate job instability and financial insecurity. At least 50% are currently unsure they’ll be able to pay their bills at the end of the month, according to our national survey.
As recent elections have shown, women of color can make or break elections. Let’s come together as the most powerful voter block to tell candidates that our votes come at a price: We will demand their action to ensure secure jobs and fair pay. We expect access to quality and affordable child/elder care and paid family leave. We demand a way to tackle debt and build our wealth across generations.
We need candidates to tell us what they’ve done to deserve our votes, and what they’ll do next. (Continued below.)
Join our Action Team email list today to receive voter guides with questions to ask those seeking your vote. These will include our Fair Pay Voter Guide, featuring questions developed in collaboration with sibling Equal Pay Today organizations, such as:
- Does your candidate support having employers share pay ranges for every job with workers and job applicants?
- Do they support excluding prior salary history (often lower because of past discrimination) as a consideration in setting pay in a new job?
- Do they support the right of workers to talk about compensation openly at work without fear of retaliation?
- Do they support ending a subminimum and poverty wage for tipped workers?
Make no mistake. Forces in this country are gunning for all our rights. Let’s vote like our lives depend on it, because they do.
