Deb Kinney

Founder, Trustparency PC

Deb L. Kinney, the founder of Trustparency PC, brings decades of expertise in estate planning, trust administration, probate, and relationship agreements. Over two decades ago, Deb established a prominent estate planning and family law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area.  As part of her practice,  Deb helped draft and pass multiple bills to establish laws protecting same sex partners and families as the LGBTQ community had  very few protections at the time. Deb also brought the first case before the IRS asserting that same sex married couples should be treated equally for tax purposes.

Over the years, Deb developed a deep understanding of the prevailing challenges for all of the community in trust administration and probate, spanning operational and technological demands. Motivated by this insight, she launched Trustparency PC, a pioneering firm committed to infusing efficiency and empathy into the trust administration process. Trustparency PC is one of California’s only law firms dedicated to trust administration.

Deb’s affinity for the complexity of trust administrations—whether navigating delicate family dynamics, managing decisions about real estate, overseeing business interests, or safeguarding special collections—underscores her passion for her work.

With her sense of humor, her quick insights and orientation to finding solutions, Deb has a knack of deescalating issues and solving problems.  Deb believes in fairness, compassion and integrity, and brings those values to her practice everyday.

Deb has two adult children, a grandbaby, and serves on the Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Advocates Board as well as the Equal Rights Advocates Board.  She has also served on the board of Equality California, Horizons Foundation, the National LGBT Bar Association, and most recently on the board of Tides Advocacy, a pro-black organization helping people fight for social justice, build political power and change public policy.
