If you are ready to lend your voice to the movement to end sexual violence, join us for the Survivors’ Agenda Summit, a three-day virtual convening of survivors, movement-makers, healers, and activists, where we will imagine what a world free of violence looks like and how we want to use our collective voices, strength, and power to make it possible. Registration & attendance is free.

Equal Rights Advocates’ Maha Ibrahim & Kel O’Hara will speak at the Summit. Read about their panels below.

The Survivors’ Summit is a Survivors’ Agenda event. Equal Rights Advocates is a Steering Committee of the Survivors’ Agenda, a collective of organizations working toward legislative, policy, and political change. Our collective believes survivors should be the ones shaping the national conversation on sexual violence.

ERA Panels

1. #MeToo At School: Advocating for Survivor-Supportive Policies despite the Harmful New Title IX Rule

  • ERA’s Maha Ibrahim will go over the 11 main ways the new rule is a disaster and unfair. (ERA is suing the Dept. of Education and Sec. Betsy DeVos over the new rule. Learn more.)
  • This session will educate participants about these harmful changes to the Title IX rule and strategies they can take to ensure schools respond appropriately, effectively, and in a trauma-informed way to sexual harassment in all schools.  Individuals will learn ways to engage with their communities, schools, school districts, and state policymakers to ensure there are strong protections for student survivors. This will include practical approaches and tangible ideas to guide institutions into ways they can comply with the Department’s new rule without espousing the Department’s harmful narrative or anti-survivor agenda.
  • The following topics will be covered in this session: education; policy advocacy; how schools can provide trauma-informed/survivor-centered services, including the use of restorative justice and mindful approaches to complying with the new rule; skill building: how to be an effective policy advocate as a survivor; skill building: how to use your voice/story/narrative in service to social change; creating partnerships/coalition-building for change; and using Title IX, state civil rights laws, and school policies to respond to sexual violence as an alternative to the criminal legal system.
